Welcome to Tuakau Rotary Club, the friendly small Rural Club in South Auckland New Zealand
Tuakau is just 10 mins from the Southern Motorway and in the heart of Horticulture and farming area of Franklin and Waikato District. Tuakau Rotary was started in 1965 and members have undertaken many projects of benefit to the community , and the Rotary Wheel is around the district in the community.
We meet Mondays 6pm for 6.30pm at Tuakau Hotel in the main street of Tuakau. Our meetings vary from guest speakers, club speakers, fellowship in homes, comittee project planning and visiting other clubs.
Our projects include supporting Rotary Youth Driving, Rotary Youth Leadership, and International Exchange, Group Study Exchange, RYPEN, and much more... Coming projects for 2013-2014 will include: Charity Road toll, Charity Dinner, Car boot sale, community day and more as the year progresses and lots of involvement with our Tuakau College. Help create the Tuakau Ambulance station, more dictionaries in local schools, a trolley derby, help for needy families.
Membership is open to all business owners, community people and men and women and all ages, our membership is wide and varied. Rotary international has preproduced videos at youtube.com/rotaryinternational and vimeo.com/rotary that you can watch. We have brochures and information to give you, but best of all come to a Rotary meeting and see for yourself why Tuakau Rotary is great to be part of.
Rotary membership is about people like you and me.... considering membership a prospective member was told:‘First ask what can I do for the club to make it strong, he was told, then when the club is strong it can help you.’
The prospective member soon got the message - Rotarians are givers not takers,- they are unpaid, not because they are worthless but because they are priceless.

Eight receive a Pride in Workmanship Award Tuakau Rotary's very first Pride in Workmanship Award
ceremony went off without a hitch on last Tuesday night. Eight people received an award plaque as well as raving reviews from their employers. Going above and beyond the call of duty, arriving before the boss gets in, always courteous and smiling, taking care of whatever needs doing most urgently, even if it isn't really their job to do it, where some of the accolades bestowed on the six winners. The award winners, all women, reflected a wide range of businesses in the region from the Tuakau Hotel to local schools, a catering company and a flower shop. The idea behind the awards is to encourage good employers-employee relationships and give employers and opportunity to publicly acknowledge excellent staff, said Rotary President Richard Gee.
The award ceremony, attended by nominees, their employers, family/whanau and friends, was followed by a celebratory dinner at the Tuakau Hotel.
