Charity toll Nov 2014 great success Approximately $4800 raised, in a lot of fun and great work by most club members. Our best ever project total now in our 3rdyear. Well done all club members….Hourly breakdown of collections8-9 $528 9-10 $773 10-11 $778 11-12 $602 12-1 $440 1-2 $530 2-3 $394 3-4 $397 4-5 $332
The fun is the great positive comments from the passing motorists, and exposure to Tuakau Rotary, and the laughs between us all as we watched the places people carry their money[ amazing how many carry it in the back seat.] The everyday family type cars who stop, the number of times the same car travelled past us, and the wealthy flash cars that do not stop…. The motor bikes who pull over to contribute, even got a passing motorist want to buy a BBQ sausage! The many locals who praised the project having now seen it for three years , and paid both ways from $20 notes to coins with the most popular note was the $5, and the most popular coins were $2 & $1, but the contribution from all coins and notes makes the grand total.
The counting of money was relentless with half hour totals throughout the day by Richard to get to the provision total of $4770. The bank machines will tell us the final amount and Judith will cross check Richards table count ably helped by Calib [ Babette’s son, who was given some of the overseas coins to start a collection] The strange coins included French, Australian, USA, Moroccan, Euros, cash handling tokens, Philippines, and old NZ currency 5 cents, 20 cents, 10 cent pieces, but lots of fun. Yes we did happily give change to people as well, maybe next year we need a swipe & go Eftpos machine!
Thanks to Tuakau primary for the use of their toilet block, Johnny at Chez bean café for the coffee and food, and Richard for the Gazebo and office equipment, Alwyn for the truck & transport for the signs, and our HBC contractors who lent us the road signs, Ian Stewart for his trailer loan, Jill for her chair & enthusiasm and Jeanette for her seat, and Ian Anderson for the safety control [ yes no near accidents and apart from speeding drivers who got shouted at or waved down] all members arrived back very safe. Our Rotary BBQ was used, and our supply of HI Vis jackets, & name badges helped make us people friendly to car drivers. Thanks to our new members who came along to participate, but mostly thanks to all club members , we did great! Thanks to the weather too! Thanks to all for being part of a great project to raise funds for Rotary projects and our Ambulance station development. Photos will go up on our website and face book pages and we can now all relax until our big Local art sale Dec 13/14. We will repeat this successful project next November 2014. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Richard Thank you soo much for the certificate from Rotary.
